28-2-14-0009 - Version 2

I am working on the last few photographs for my book Generation Pink. I have a list of 6 more images, that I need to make. I am ready to finish this project, to move on to other work. I need to think of it as finished, with just a few gaps to fill. It has been 3 years in the making and I am eager to move onto other projects. It is a substantial piece of work and frequently overwhelms me, unless I break it down to the next imiadiate task.

I have been thinking about how much this work has taught me and just how much I have put into it. I have poured myself into these photographs. I came across this quote from Ansel Adams, which perfectly sums up my clunky feelings “You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photographing all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”

This picture¬†shows one of those people that I have and do love. My daughter, Ruby is breast feeding her doll and as I look at her staring out at me; the picture is of her and how loving and gentle she is, but I can’t help but see myself reflected back in double helpings.
